On July 23rd right after work, I drove up to Reno to meet up with others from the University 1st Ward to go to Yosemite. We all drove up to somewhere in California and stayed at Trumbull Lake Campground. It was very dark as we arrived. I set up my tent and had some roasted marshmallows, and chatted with Leslie and Kathryn around the campfire. Then the Bishop talked ans some of us talked about pioneer stories since the next day was a celebration of Pioneer Day. We stayed up way too late! I think we all went to bed at like 1:00 am!
We woke up early by Bishop shaking our tents. We had a yummy breakfast. Then we all continued on driving to Yosemite. Then we met at a spot before going down to Yosemite. We all changed cars. I rode with Bishop and it was fun since he had a sun roof. He told me to go up and look around. It was neat and fun. We finally arrived in Yosemite. It was a LONG drive! I didn't get to hike this time because of some miscommunication I had with a guy. But I got to see some amazing sights! At first, we went by a really tall mountain. We all got out of the car and walked a bit away from the mountain. My group was using binoculars to look at the mountain. I found out that there was a rock climber (it looked like two rock climbers to me but I was not sure) in a crack of the mountain resting. I thought they were completely crazy! I should have taken a pic of the mountain but I didn't. It was a very tall, flat mountain. Wow! It was pretty cool to see the rock climbers up there but they are seriously crazy! :) Then we went up the mountains on toward Glacier Point. We had two stops before arriving at Glacier Point. The first stop, we got to see all of the valleys and you could see half-dome. The second stop must be my favorite of all! It was pretty amazing! I got to see Half-Dome very close and oh man... It's huge! It's a great shape. And I could see two big water falls! Two years ago, I got to hike to the Vernal water fall. So it was cool to see it far away. I really love this spot. It is very amazing... Then we arrived at Glacier Point. We went on a tiny hike up there. I could see the whole valley of Yosemite! Half-Dome was close also. It was pretty scary to look down to look at those valleys, roads, forests, mountains, etc... Then we went back down to meet up with all those that went on a hike on a 4-mile trail which was a very hard one. They didn't even make it. One guy fell down and hurt himself. But he's good. Scary! I was pretty sad I didn't go on a hike with them. But oh well... I need to learn to communicate more and this guy needs to work on his English!! Really, I had a great time at Yosemite and I enjoyed it. We all drove out of Yosemite. Then we all stopped at a diner place to have some dinner. We were all starving! I had a slice of pepperoni pizza. Yum! Then we went home to Reno. It was a LONG drive back to Reno from Yosemite! I'm glad I spent the night in Reno. No way, would I have made it home. I was way too tired! It was a great weekend!
